4th SAARC Cabinet Secretaries Meeting
Fourth SAARC Cabinet Secretaries Meeting.
Cabinet Secretary attended the 4th SAARC Cabinet Secretaries meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal on 09-10 June, 2016 with the objective of sharing the best practices among SAARC Member States. He called on H.E. KP Sharma Oli, the Prime Minister of Nepal, in his office at Singha Durbar and conveyed him greetings and regards of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He further apprised him about the common issues of concern in the SAARC region.
The Cabinet Secretary briefed the meeting about the best practices of Pakistan including Punjab Emergency System (Rescue - 1122), Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Bait-ul-Mal, Civil Service Support - focusing on the welfare of government employees, Health Insurance Program and Education Endowment Fund. A documentary was also shown on the establishment and operation of Rescue 1122 which is being replicated in other parts of Pakistan. Pakistan offered to host a workshop on e-governance and government performance management in the near future for all SAARC member states. During the meeting, a request was made by the Cabinet Secretary, Bangladesh for holding workshops on "1122 Emergency Service" for strategic level officers and operational staff. Cabinet Division has coordinated with the Home Department, Government of the Punjab to schedule this workshop for the participants of SAARC countries.
